Scott Hastings

Scott started playing trombone when he was 11 years old.  In 1969, he moved to New Orleans and quickly got involved in jazz.  He played in Dixieland Bands and Night Club groups on Bourbon Streetwhile in high school, while being mentored by avant garde jazz clarinetistAlvin Batiste.  Scott was a member of the 1971 Louisiana All-State Band.

Scott studied Trombone under Louis Pendarvis and Larry Campbell at Louisiana State University.  After college, Scott returned to New Orleans where he was the lead trombonist for The Nobles, a popular New Orleans Style R&B Band.  In 1999, he was inducted into the Louisiana Hall of Fame.

Scott now resides in North Texas where he is a software specialist with US Analytics.  He has been involved in the Jazz Studies Program at the University of North Texas as a summer camp counselor.  In recent months, Scott has done IT Consulting for the home office of Wal-Mart stores in Bentonville, Arkansas, and has been involved in several music venues there, leaving his loving wife and remaining teenaged son to fend for themselves while he enjoys tonic water straight with meals.
